“Extricate is a video installation of a durational performance in which the artist wears a full bodysuit crocheted by hand, ties it to a post in her studio, and walks through a public space as the suit unravels. Once the suit unravels completely, she retraces her steps, picking up the trail of yarn she left over the course of 3 hours. The only thing that remains is a large ball of yarn.”

“My artistic practice explores notions of sexuality, gender, nature, and memory from an ecofeminist perspective. My work raises awareness to feminist and environmental issues, mending the divide between nature and culture. Drawing from past and present experiences, I aim to connect with the viewer on an intimate level, thus evoking emotion, vulnerability, and contemplation. My current work explores the relationship between humans and the natural world, addressing the effects of a patriarchal culture through a combination of performance, yarn, and the art of crocheting. Using femininely charged materials in a contemporary setting allows me to connect to women’s history while challenging traditional notions of art and gender. My practice varies from soft sculpture to performances using my body as a means of feminist expression as I let the subject matter inform the medium.”
